one weird trick
who? online publishing platform, medium, commissioned a six-part essay series by magic historian, david britland. the series explores the ‘psychological traits around attention that magicians have understood for centuries, and how they affect us in the real world.’
what? illustrated gif animations, one for each article.
how? i actively read the articles, looking for details of the essays worth visualising. drafted artworks and storyboards were reviewed by my colleagues and the author before moving on to digitizing and animating the pieces using adobe illustrator and animate. i personally aimed to use a different technique for each animation with the intent of getting more comfortable with the software.
